January 26, 2017:  This website is launched. So probably best to firstly do an historical rundown of the production of the film.

Shooting Songs of Revolution

The script was written in 2013 primarily (and adjusted during the shoot).

Production was set for Greece for mid 2014, but delayed due to director Bill Mousoulis suffering a back injury.

In October of 2014, Mousoulis made a quick short film, The Fairy Tale, exploring the basic principle of the longer film (the juxtaposition of a known protest song with contemporary images).

In 2015, shooting for the feature finally began, and proceeded in a piecemeal fashion (Mousoulis' mobility still limited), and about half the feature was shot.

Another short film emerged again, Three Strikes, commissioned by the Adelaide Film Festival for a special "vertical cinema" program at their festival in October 2015.

Shooting Three Strikes

With this short, three songs were given various cinematic treatments (collage, documentary, fiction), the film utilising certain musicians and actors who were also shot for the feature. (And there were subsequent screenings of this short in Sydney, Melbourne and Athens.)

In late 2015, Mousoulis started editing the feature, and in February 2016, presented a sneak preview of some of the scenes to the Greek Film Society of Sydney.

In April 2016, shooting of the feature re-commenced, and everything was completed by July, at which point Mousoulis returned to Australia to work on the editing of the film in the latter months of 2016.

The edit went through several morphs, finally settling on a 118 minute cut in January of 2017.
