2005 - Saloni M presents The Shades of Love

Hidayet Ceylan

Hidayet Ceylan worked as an engineer in his homeland Turkey before emigrating to Australia in 1997. He has continued to work as an Engineer and Experimental Scientist in Melbourne since then.

He has been writing poetry since 1999 but mainly in the last three years. He was inspired by Erich Fromm, Frantz Fanon, Yunus Emre and Sufi philosophy. He perceives poetry as a self-discovery and he tries to reflect his deep emotions in his poetry.

He also likes reading politics, history, philosophy, psychoanalysis, and poetry.

For the Saloni M swims East event in 2003, he presented:

From Duality to Monism, a poem about the dual characteristics of created personalities in societies which are based on power and oppressed / oppressor cycles.

We Are All Aussies Now, a poem about the assimilation process which happens in WASP Aussie culture, its different forms, including changing of names, the acquiring of a money-driven personality, and the creating of inferiority and superiority complexes in the assimilated people.

Fashion God, a poem about the enslavement of females in modern society by the mass media, the State and capitalists. How females behave and worship the created "Fashion God".

FROM DUALITY TO MONISM

Hey you unaware! Don't search on the mountains or plains

Heaven and hell within you, within you

Duality won't bring you anything

Angel and devil are within you, within you

Some are proud of having the knowledge

Some are very sorry not to have the knowledge

They don't know that they follow the same path

Scholar and uneducated are within you, within you

Some are anxious to have power

Not aware that powerlesness is embedded in power

They spend their lives for nothing

Lion and gazelle are within you, within you

The ones competing to own more

Are exploiting the each bit of the world

There is no peace even in their sleeps

Rich and poor are within you, within you

Don't oppress the oppressed people, you'll be cursed

You think the one oppressive than you is the lord of the world

Isn't that enough to share this crime

All nations are within you, within you

Women, man are equal in friendly environments

Whatever God created is in the right place

Lacking, differences are in your mind, ideas

Rain and soil are within you, within you

Some are looking for infinite beauty

They always want to be seen as eighteen years old

Their whole world is their body and face

Beauty and ugliness are within you, within you

Those thoughts have been thought us for centuries

We never question whether they are right or wrong

I don't know why we think we are free

Master and slave are within you, within you

Hidayet says let's overcome these opposites

I never listen people lacking of mind, heart

The idols of New World Order collapse in this way

Infinity and nothingness are within you, within you

Our bodies are here

Turkey is our homeland

We all boast there

Some of us became Sam

We have all been assimilated

The face of the children don't smile

Because they don't know their identities

They cannot see their assimilations

We never see indigenous people

We say "It is not our business"

We oppress them all together

We never ask "What is Ausssie?"

We don't think about it much

We don't resist even we know
