Anna Brownfield
b. December 1, 1971, Australia

BIOGRAPHY:   Since graduating from RMIT Media Arts with honours, award winning feminist erotic filmmaker, Anna Brownfield, has gained extensive media attention for the originality of her work and she has appeared on ABC TV's 'Mondo Thingo', and 'The 10.30 Slot', JJJ, SBS, RRR, Triple MMM and ABC radio. Articles about her work have appeared in The Bulletin, Cleo, Cosmo, IF magazine, Desktop magazine, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, and numerous street press publications.

Her work has screened at numerous festivals, both here and overseas, including the International Women's Conference 1995 (Beijing), WOW Film Festival (Sydney), Westspace Artist's Gallery (Melbourne), Artrage (Perth) and elsewhere.

Her film The Money Shot was chosen to close the Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) in 2005. She cleaned up the MUFF awards winning Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Male Lead. The film is available through Accent Underground.

Since then, she has made two more features, The Band (2006) and The Bedroom (2016).

CRITICAL OVERVIEW:   Anna Brownfield's work deals with the issue of male and female gazes, sexuality and sensuality, pushing the boundaries and redefining the depiction of sex and nudity in cinema.

Coming from an experimental and art film background, she has progressively moved more and more into narrative film, while retaining a unique and highly arresting style.
