  • No news is good news! For those following this News page, yes, my entries to it have been non-existent practically! But I promise that a revamp of this entire site is under way, and that sometime next year it will be up and running, and with more info, etc. on it!

January 17, 2006

  • I am currently deep into the post-production process on my latest feature film, Blue Notes. It should be completed around early March. I am also planning my next feature, A Nocturne.

July 21, 2005

  • Shooting is now under way on my new low-budget DV feature, financed by the Australian Film Commission. Anticipated completion late this year.

April 27, 2005

  • Just about to go into pre-production on my next feature, another very low-budget DV one, utilising improvised acting. Stay tuned for more details.

October 4, 2004

  • After several months of having to devote my energies to various screenings/performances, I am now deep into the making of my 6th feature, and first one shot on video - Spring Rhapsody. Shot recently, in September, without a script and with much input and improvisation from the actors, it is currently being edited.

March 16, 2004

  • Having recently completed A Sufi Valentine (and also the editing of Helen Mihajlovic's Meaning) on my recently set up editing system at home, I'm now looking forward to making a DV feature, the first time I've used video for a feature. I plan to shoot and edit the film piecemeal, through the year (and maybe some of next year), in impro-Wong fashion.

December 3 , 2003

  • The short film New Horizons has now been completed and will be having its premiere screening in a couple of days - see Screenings page for more details. It was shot and edited in the past 2 weeks, especially for the event it is premiering at.

September 12, 2003

  • The short film Don't Move has now been completed and will be having its premiere screening in November - see Screenings page for more details.

July 13, 2003

  • The short film Don't Move, featuring Maria Vallianos, has now been shot. It will be edited in August sometime, and screened sometime thereafter.

  • Lovesick has had its public premiere screening, on July 11, as part of the 4th Melbourne Underground Film Festival. It was a good screening, with a reasonable audience and response. The novelty for me was in having a number of the cast (Holly, Clay, John) and crew (Nick, Albert, Kathy) up on the stage with me for the post-film Q&A. Also, the film was awarded Best Innovation in Underground Cinema, and Best Cinematography.

June 4, 2003

  • The 1st Draft of a new feature script has been written recently, Tender Passage, a romantic drama. This is actually an extension of the short film made earlier this year, Passage. It will be developed further, in time.

March 23, 2003

  • Passage has now been completed, not just the shooting, but the editing also. It runs for 16 minutes. As the year progresses, I'll be looking to get screenings for it.

  • A script has been written for a new short film, Don't Move. I'll be using DV again for this one, as I'm interested in exploring the medium further. A simpler film than Passage, it will have just one actor in it (Maria Vallianos), and it will have a Nouvelle Vague flavour to it.

March 12, 2003

  • The aforementioned essay by Maximilian Le Cain on the film Lovesick, published in the latest issue of Metro, has now been added this site - essay.

  • Shooting currently in progress for my short film Passage, featuring Toni San Diego and David Tulk. A small-scale production, on DV, I'm going hands-on with the camera itself, and Jason Turley is sound recordist. The ubiquitous Clay Ravin (lead actor of Lovesick) is composing the music.

February 23, 2003

  • Metro Magazine, with its feature on Lovesick, has just been published. Irish film critic Maximilian Le Cain in an insightful essay calls the film "challenging and brilliant". The essay will be re-printed on this website in mid March.

  • I have completed the 1st Draft of a feature screenplay, A Couple of Rules, a relationship study employing the romantic comedy genre. To be developed further.

  • Currently in pre-production for a short film, Passage, my 81st film and 1st to be shot on video (about time I guess). Starring Toni San Diego and David Tulk, it will be shot during March.

January 24, 2003

  • The Irish film critic Maximilian Le Cain has written a lengthy essay on my latest feature film Lovesick. It will be published in the upcoming issue of Metro (out late February). Max has placed the film in his list of the best films of 2002 in Senses of Cinema.

  • I am currently (until late February) writing a new feature film script.
